Palais Fidelio, Bonn

Palais Fidelio, Bonn

A property with history

Once a garden area of Bonn university, then a student residence, and now a much sought-after place to live: with the “Palais Fidelio”, 13 exclusive apartments have been built in Bonn. As can be guessed from the name taken from the Beethoven opera “Fidelio”, this housing project was realised in the music quarter of the centre of Bonn, directly on the corner of Humboldtstraße and Haydnstraße – one of the most sought-after addresses in Bonn.

A building was erected on the garden plot during the Gründerzeit in 1900, and served as a student residence for over 100 years. However, after the residence was unable to meet new fire protection requirements, it was refused a further operating license and was sold to the development company, PARETO GmbH, the project developer for the Kreissparkasse Köln.

The project was planned and implemented by the architects Oezen-Reimar + Partner. In view of the Gründerzeit buildings in the direct vicinity and the historically valuable structure, the listed building was left complete during the conversion. Together with a new construction, which integrated itself in the environment both in an urban planning sense as well as with its modern interpretation of the façade design, exclusive private apartments have arisen.

The apartments are distinguished both in the existing and the new building by being appointed to a high-quality: Underground parking, lifts, parquet flooring, underfloor heating and video entrance systems will meet even the highest expectations. Along with the high-quality interior fittings, the exterior spaces impress with generous terraces, balconies or loggias and private garden areas for the ground-floor units.

The penthouse in the new building has been equipped with the LS ZERO switch range. With LS ZERO, JUNG provides the possibility to install switches flush in furniture, masonry and studwork. The development of the various installation versions was tested and developed with architects and the various trades. The flush installation method provides fascinating design possibilities in consistent perfection. The complete switch range in stainless steel blends optimally into the walls in the smoothed concrete design.

The complete range of the KNX technology used has also been installed flush. This can also be seen in the interior video call station.

Light, temperature and blinds can be conveniently controlled with the KNX push-button modules in the F40 range and the KNX room controller.

“Palais Fidelio” is a contemporary complement to a part of Bonn rich in tradition. In particular, the combination of high-quality architecture and accessibility in combination with underground parking is an exception in the Gründerzeit quarter of Bonn.
